    Kenya's team for the Second All-Africa Games in Lagos received the nation's best wishes for success from Vice-President Daniel Arap Moi in Nairobi on Thursday (4 January)
    Before their departure for Nigeria, Mr. Moi along with Mr. Masinde Muliro, Kenya's Minister responsible for Sport, said the country was confident the team would do well.

    The party, comprising 45 athletes, 11 boxers and 16 officials is led by Kenya's world famous middle distance runner Kipchoge Keino. In answer to reporters questions that Lagos would be his last International meeting, Keino said that his future depends upon his physical condition in the years ahead. He said that he had hopes of competing in the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand.

    Kenya is one of 40 African Nations sending teams to the twelve day event which opens on Sunday (7 January). The main aim of the Games is to foster peace, unity and mutual co-existence among African countries.

    SYNOPSIS: Kenya's team members for the Second All-Africa Games in Lagos, met Vice President Moi in Nairobi on Thursday, shortly before their departure. The team comprised 45 athletes, 11 boxers and 16 officials.

    Accompanying the team is Kenya's Minister responsible for Sport, Mr. Masinde Muliro.

    Mr. Muliro handed over the Kenyan Flag to be carried in the opening ceremony, to Kenya's world famous middle distance runner Kipchoge Keino. Later in answer to reporters questions that Lagos would possibly be his last International meeting, Keino said he still hoped to compete in the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand.
