BUT A LOT OF INTEREST CENTRED ON SOUTH AFRICA'S NATAL INDIAN GOLFER SEWSUNKER (PAPWA) SEWGOLUM WHO WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN THE WEST PROVINCE OPEN TOURNAMENT IN CAPETOWN NEXT WEEK, BUT WILL BE ALLOWED TO DEFEND HIS NATAL OPEN TITLE EARLY NEXT MONTH, ACCORDING TO SOUTH AFRICA'S MINISTER OF PLANNING MR JAN HAAK.

    MR HAAK SAID HE WOULD GRAND SEWGOLUM PERMISSION TO PLAY IN THE NATAL OPEN ON THE GROUNDS THAT HE HAD IN THE PAST TAKEN PART IN THE TOURNAMENT. MR HAAK HOWEVER WOULD NOT COMMIT HIMSELF TO SEWGOLUM'S FUTURE PARTICIPATION IN THE NATAL TOURNAMENT.

    HAROLD HENNING WONT THE SOUTH AFRICAN PROFESSIONAL GOLFER'S ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING. HENNING, WHO WITH GARY PLAYER WON THE CANADA CUP IN SPAIN LAST OCTOBER, RETURNED 272 FOR THE 72 HOLE COURSE -- 12 UNDER PAR. BOB CHARLES, THE NEW ZEALAND LEFT-HANDER CAME SECOND ON 278 AND GARY PLAYER AND T. WILLIAMS SHARED THIRD PLACE, A STROKE BEHIND CHARLES.
