    WITH THE PRESIDENT WERE GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTAL HEADS, SERVICE CHIEFS AND GENERAL GRIVAS. ALSO ON THE SALUTING DAIS WAS THE GREEK DEFENCE MINISTER, MR. GAROUFALIAS. THEY SAW A PARADE LED BY STUDENTS FROM THE NICOSIA GYMNASIUM, FOLLOWED BY POLICE, FIRE BRIGADE AND ARMY UNITS. ARMOURED VEHICLES AND ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS TRAILED PAST, TOO. SQUADS OF THE CYPRUS NATIONAL GUARD WHO HAVE BEEN UNDER TRAINING IN RECENT MONTHS WON APPLAUSE FROM THE GREEK-CYPRIOT SIGHTSEERS.

    THE PARADE ENDED WITH THE CONTINGENT OF GREEK SOLDIERS NOW STATIONED IN CYPRUS UNDER ZURICH AGREEMENT. THEIR BAND BROUGHT UP THE REAR OF THE PROCESSION.
