  • Description

Despite Peking claims of record harvests and production schedules, four thousand food parcels are daily mailed by Singapore's Chinese population to near starving relatives in Red China.

Ironically, many of the food parcels contain products exported to Singapore from Red China.

Reasons for the semi-famine are not quite clear. It is thought that in an apparent rush to boost trade, the Communists may not be actually starving their people - just making everybody a little hungry, thus forcing millions of people of Chines expatriates throughout Asia to contribute to home support.
