The Nigerians are assisting with the maintenance of good order in the capital. The possibility of Nigerian police occupying Matadi, on behalf of the U.N. and jointly with Congo police, has been discussed between the U.N. and the Kasavubu Government.
Our cameraman writes that the Congolese police are undisciplined and are receiving useful instruction from the well-trained Nigerians. Police resources in Leopoldville are strained to the utmost by the need to provide constant house protection for ministers of the various governments in Leopoldville who all claim to be "the legal Government.
