Argentina has qualified for the World Hocky Cup in March next year with a three-nil win over Canada. The match was played on Thursday (September 5) at San Isidre in Buenos Aires Province. The World Cup will be held in Malaysia.
A crowd of three thousand saw the home team take the game right up to the Canadians in the opening stages. Argentina was lucky to escape giving away a penalty after only six minutes. But from that point on the Argentines took control in the centre and after 12 minutes scored. The second goal came in the 22nd minute. The last goal came in the second half from a penalty.
Although the Canadians were never overrun, they were outclassed. With the score at three nil, the home side seemed to slow down and the Canadians came back in the last 15 minutes and the ability of the Argentina goalie was tested.
Argentina have now reached the final of the World Cup three times.
