  • Description

Continuing his visit to Soviet Russia, President Nasser of Egypt made a short visit to Baku - "oil capital" of the Soviet Union.

Arriving in the now familiar "Zim" car - the Russian Packard-like luxury car - the President was flanked by local officials and escorted by motor cycle outriders as he drove through the streets of the town.

Large and enthusiastic crowds greeted him on the entire route - and drive that was followed by a private reception given to the President by local officials.

Then, like all visitors to this city, the President drove out to inspect the nearby oil field - greetings signs in Russian and Egyptian hanging from all the main derricks.

Watched by hundreds of workers, he toured the whole of the main plant before driving away in his flower-filled car.
