  • Description

Animals caged near France's third atomic test in the Sahara were flown to Paris, Dec. 28, for examination by radiation experts.

The animals included rabbits, rats, mice, guinea-pigs, a goat, and tortoises.

Before the test began, the rat stand mice were given various chemicals aimed reducing the effects of radiation.

A chain of protest followed in several countries over the atomic test, especially as France is the only country in the world now openly engaged in nuclear explosions. Some reports said a fourth test in the Sahara was set early in the New Year.
