IN SPITE OF JUIN'S OPPOSITION TO PRESIDENT DE GAULLE'S ALGERIAN POLICIES AND HIS CONSEQUENT REMOVAL IN 1960 FROM THE HIGHER NATIONAL DEFENCE COUNCIL, THE TWO WAR LEADERS HAD REMAINED GOOD FRIENDS.

    JUIN DIED IN PARIS LAST FRIDAY. HE WAS 78.
