  • Description

A New York liquor dealer on Tuesday (23 May) paid nine thousand, two hundred dollars (GBP3537) for a rare bottle of wine.

Mr. Joseph Zenal bought the bottle at an auction of rare wines - and the price he paid was the highest on record.

The wine is a Jeroboam of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1929. These wines were placed in large bottles than the usual and as a result have matured much more slowly. The 1929 wine is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the great vintages of this century.

After the auction - and while still clutching his valuable bottle -Mr. Zenel was questioned by newsmen.
