Girls in sheep's clothing are the top feature of an annual event - the Miss Wool of American Pageant. For swimming or skiing, the fashions run the gamut this anniversary, the bicentenary of American's wool industry. And it has come a long way - as any admirer of fine wool will agree.
The scene is San Angelo, Texas, wool capital of American where the most willing sheep have given the curly locks off their backs, literally, to make the handsome coverings. These girls have to look good in high fashion summer wool dresses, too, to compete. For it's the year-round wardrobe that counts as well in the final vote of esteem.
Judges cast their ballots for Miss Pat Shaw of Montana to be Miss Wool of America and all year to display her wardrobe and charm across the nation.
