    Background: Three pilots and an instructor were killed Tuesday (30 May) when a Delta Airlines DC-9 twin jet airliner crashed and burned on a training flight at Greater Southwest Airport near Fort Worth, Texas.

    The aircraft was making routine landing and take-off flights when the accident occurred. According to eye-witnesses, the plane skidded along the ground on its tail for about half a mile as it bust into flames.

    Delta Airline officials said the aircraft was on a routine check flight with an instructor from the Federal Aviation Administration when it crashed. After the crash, the plane continued to burn for two hours.
