  • Description

The observation terrace at Orly Airport, Paris, was re-opened on Saturday (9 August) complete with new security re-enforcements.

The terrace had been closed since 21 January after two successful Arab terrorist attacks, using the platform to fire bazookas and small rockets at Israeli jets, had taken place within a week.

Included in the new measures are vertical walls of bullet-proof poly-carbonate glass and a nylon mail net covering to prevent the throwing of grenades and explosives from the terrace.

An extra 100 police guards have been drafted into security service at Orly and sharp-shooters patrol the airport grounds around-the clock.

The latest security measures have cost the French Government a total of 500,000 france (50,000 pounds sterling).
