    INTRODUCTION The leading Soviet basketball team, the IS.S.K.A., narrowly defeated Real Madrid in the second game of the European Cup Championship Series.     SYNOPSIS: The Soviet team, playing in red, had to use all its skill throughout the game to hold off Real's persistent attacks. No sooner would the Soviet team score a basket when Real would gain possession of the ball and even the score. Real has won the Cup five times, while TS.S.K.A., has four victories in the competition.

    The first game of this series was held in Madrid, where the Soviet team won by a total of 18 points. Real needed a victory in Moscow to tie the serias. Applying a great amount of pressure, the Spanish team managed to take the lead by 60 to 49 at the end of the first half.

    Trailing slightly, the Soviet team exhibited a final burst of determination to tie the score once again. Continued attacks and counterattacks by both teams gave each only a marginal edge over the other until the end.

    Racing against the clock, the Soviet team managed to keep a two point lead to win the game.

    To the delight of the crowds the final score was 113 to 111.
