    Background: Cambodians went to the polls on Sunday to elect their first President. The month-long campaign closed quietly with only small groups of supporters roaming the streets distributing literature. Portraits of two main candidates -- Marshal Lon Nol, the acting President, and former General In Tam, a popular figure with the students adorned the streets of Phnompenh.

    Fifty-six years old In Tam went out into Phnompenh to address some final curbside rallies before polling began. Voting was brisk, particularly among the military. Observers consider that military support will clinch the sleeting for harhell on no.1 voted is the public heaths before crowds of bressman and photographer. He couldnts were reported inside Phnompenh though aporadic communist attacks occurred in other parts of the country.
