  • Description

Despite the fact that the State of Emergency in Malaya ends July 31, troops from Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal and Malaya still patrol the thick jungle along the border of Northern Malaya and Thailand hunting for communist terrorists. Due to the thick jungle between the troops and their bases, supplies have to be dropped by air. Aircraft of the Royal Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Royal New Zealand Air Force have played an important part throughout the campaign.

In the twelve years of the emergency the communist forces have been cut down from 11,000; 6,710 killed in fighting; 2,600 surrendered; and 1,290 captured. The success of the security forces cost them 1,865 men killed and 2,560 wounded. About 8,000 civilians have been killed or seriously wounded.
