  • Description

The Harrier will be the world's first operational vertical/short take off and landing ground attack fighter when it enters service with the Royal Air Force in April 1969. This new film shows the aircraft landing and taking off vertically, and the aircraft can even fly sideways and backwards. It will be particularly valuable in close support work, as it can operate from small, unprepared strips, and clearings now available only to helicopters. Coupled with his capability, the Harrier can also carry a wide range of weapons at high speeds.
