    The Senegalese Government has so far spent about 168,000 million france CFA (360 million pounds sterling) on its current development plan.

    The Minister of Planning and Cooperation, Mr. Ousmane Seck said this on Monday (2 June) at an annual conference to review the progress of the 1972-76 plan.

    Mr. Seck added that agriculture took the largest slice of the cake -- having received an increase of 81 per cent. Agriculture has traditionally been given priority because it is the mainstay of the economy.

    Other points discussed at the conference included the reclamation and afforestation of desert and the question of nationalisation.

    The meeting, attended by Cabinet Ministers and senior civil servants, was president over by President Leopold Sedar Senghor.
