    UNITS FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY AT SANDHURST AND FROM THE FRENCH COETQUIDAN ACADEMY HAVE BEEN TAKING PART IN JOINT MANOEUVRES IN BRITTANY, FRANCE. THE EXERCISE, CODE-NAMED "TIPPERARY", BEGAN YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) AND CONTINUED UNTIL TODAY.

    ARGOSY AND NORD 2200 AIRCRAFT WERE USED TO DROP PARATROOPERS INTO THE EXERCISE AREA.

    ONE OF THE MANOEUVRES INVOLVED THE CROSSING OF THE RIVER OUST BY BRITISH TROOPS IN DINGHIES FROM THE COETQUIDAN ACADEMY. THE BRITISH UNITS, USING SMOKE BOMBS, ALSO ATTACKED A NUMBER OF RADAR POSTS.

    THE MANOEUVRES WERE WATCHED BY MAJOR-GENERAL P.M. HUNT, D.S.O., THE COMMANDANT OF THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY AT SANDHURST, AND MAJOR-GENERAL ALAIN DE BOISSIEU - A SON-IN-LAW OF PRESIDENT DE GAULLE - THE COMMANDANT OF COETQUIDAN ACADEMY.
