The Jordanian Prime Minister, Mr. Zaid-al-Rifai arrived in Damascus on Friday (February 28) for talks with the Syrian Government over the forthcoming middle east tour by the American Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger.
Mr. Rifai's visit comes on the heels of a speech by the Syrian president, Hafez al-Assad who said he was against separate agreements with Israel and stressed the need for concerted political action by the Arabs.
Heading the Syrian delegation at the talks with the Jordanians is the Vice President Mr. Mahmoud al-Ayoubi. He had more than an hours discussions soon after the Jordanians arrived.
Dr. Kissinger is expected to begin another middle east trip in about a week. It will be his eleventh mission in 17 months.
