    The Royal Family of Greece, leading Greek politicians, church dignitaries, high-ranking officers, and members of the Diplomatic Corps attended a memorial service at Athens Cathedral, Mar 25, marking the 139th anniversary of Greek independence.

    Archbishop Theoklytos, of Athens and All Greece, conducted the service during which tribute was paid to the "martyrs of 1821 who rose against the Ottoman yoke" and Greek Cypriots "who gave their lives for freedom".

    Later, King Paul and Crown Prince Constantine, on horseback, took the salute at a march-past of Greek Armed Forces contingents with tanks, artillery and armoured vehicles. Troops paraded past the tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
