  • Description

King Hussein of Jordan flew into Rabat, the Moroccan capital, on Tuesday (15 May) for talks on the latest Middle East situation with King Hassan II.

The Moroccan monarch was at the airport with his brother Prince Moulay Abdallah to greet King Hussein. Together they inspected the Moroccan Royal guard.

The political talks are expected to cover shifts in Jordan's stance over the Middle East problem.

Recently King Hussein announced for the first time his acceptance of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation as sole representative of the Palestinians at the Geneva peace talks.

And just before King Hussein left for Morocco, newspapers in Jerusalem, both pro-Arab nationalist and pro-Israel, were reporting growing evidence that King Hussein may give his support to the setting up of a Palestine state in the West Bank and Gaza and abandon his plans for a federation of the territories east and west of the River Jordan.

King Hussein's two day visit was at the invitation of King Hassan.
