President of Yugoslavia arrived at Colombo, Ceylon, for his first visit there, Jan 21. As he stepped ashore from his yacht, he was welcomed by a royal salute and a roll on festive drums.
Colombo port workers stopped work to greet Tito, and Buddhist monks saluted him in oriental style with clasped hands.
After inspecting a guard of honor Tito was driven in state through the port.
Later he spoke with the Ceylon Premier, Mr. Bandaranaike, for three hours. These discussions will be resumed when Tito returns from a visit to the nearby hill country on Saturday, Jan 24.
Tito's Asian tour has included visits to Indonesia and India.
