    Background: For the first time during all the period of agitation by the Janate Congress which brought collapse of Sikkim administration, Bhutias and Lepchea in large numbers over three thousand of them gathered in Uangtok and took a procession through the streets of capital city of the Himalayan Kingdom praising the Chogyal. They shouted slogans "Long Live the Chogyal" and "Long Live the Indian Government" for its having come to the rescue of the Chary. processionists included several monks in saffron robes an also large numbers of Rhutia youth boys and girls. At the head of the procession leaders of the National Party carried pretraits of the Chogyal and his us born Gyaime. As the procession reached its termination point, a building known as White Hall near the Palace the crowds danced in ecstasy. A large number jumped on a jeep that had been fitted with public address system for slogan shouting.
