THE TWO-HOUR CLASH TOOK PLACE ON THE SOUTHERN FRINGE OF THE FRENCH-OWNED MICHELIN PLANTATION. IT RESULTED IN 100 VIETCONG KILLED WHILE GOVERNMENT LOSSES WERE DESCRIBED AS MODERATE.

IN THE BATTLE, THE VIETCONG FIRED SEVERAL ROUNDS OF MORTAR WHICH DAMAGED SEVERAL TROOP-CARRYING ARMOURED VEHICLES, A BUNGALOW AND MANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS BELONGING TO THE PLANTATION.

THE 60 WEAPONS CAPTURED FROM THE VIETCONG INCLUDED RECOILLESS ANTI-TANK GUNS AND AN ASSORTMENT OF AMMUNITION. THE ROW OF DEAD VIETCONG BODIES ON THE FRINGE OF THE PLANTATION WERE CARTED AWAY IN MILITARY TRUCKS.
