The kitchens in this Mess are in the charge of S.Q.M.S: W. BECKETT, (in black beret) who has a staff of 12 cooks to cater for the serving of some 500,000 meals each year. S.Q.M.S: Beckett, 28 years in the Army, was for many years a Master Sergeant Cook. In the R.A. all cooks are known as "DUFFY". S.Q.M.S: Beckett and his staff preparing the lunch for today, which includes a choice of 12 meat dishes and 12 different sweets plus a choice from 15 vegetables.
