    FRANCE, WHICH EARLIER LOST THE EUROPEAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TO THE SOVIET UNION, WON THREE INDIVIDUAL TITLES -- THE OPEN MIDDLEWEIGHT, AMATEUR MIDDLEWEIGHT, AND AMATEUR LIGHTWEIGHT, IN THE LAST OF THESE, ANDRE BOURREAU DEFEATED THE ITALIAN CARMENI.

    GLAHN (WEST GERMANY) TOOK THE AMATEUR HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE IN A FAST-MOVING MATCH AGAINST KIBROZACHVILI OF THE SOVIET UNION.

    ANTON GESSINK, DUTCH WORLD CHAMPION, EMERGED FROM THE TWO-DAY CONTEST WITH TWO TITLES, DEFEATING FELLOW DUTCHMEN IN BOTH THE HEAVYWEIGHT AND ALL-CATEGORY CHAMPIONSHIPS - THE LATTER BEING A CLOSE-FOUGHT MATCH WITH HENK WARMERDAM.
