Background: President Ahmad Hassan Al Bakr of Iraq had talks with a first Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers Mr. Tano Tsolov, at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad on Saturday, (June 16).
Mr. Tsolov and a Bulgarian delegation are on a visit to Iraq.
The meeting at the Presidential Palace was also attended by Taha Al Jazrawi, Iraq Minister of Industry and Mr. Bino Dakozot the Bulgarian Ambassador in Baghdad.
Earlier on Saturday morning formal talks between the Iraqi and Bulgarian delegations began at the national Assembly building.
The talks dealt with political, cultural and economic affairs.
In recent months Iraq's ruling Baath party has undertaken a drive to develop relations with other countries.
Delegations representing the party have recently visited East Germany, Poland, Hungary and Italy. And other delegations were due to be visiting a number of African states.
Bulgaria has recently been trying to increase its foreign trade.
