    THE OTHER TWO ARE: IDRIS HANBALA, A TUC OFFICIAL, AND ABDULLAH ALI OBEID, A NEWS VENDOR. ALL THREE PLEADED NOT GUILTY. THEIR DEFENCE IS BEING LED BY BRITISH BARRISTER CHRISTOPHER FRENCH AT THE EXPENSE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFEDERATION OF FREE TRADE UNIONS, BRUSSELS. HIS SUBMISSION THAT THERE WAS NO PROPER CASE AGAINST THE THREE HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE CHIEF MAGISTRATE.

    DURING THE FIRST DAY'S HEARING - ON THURSDAY - THE COURT WAS TOLD THAT THE PAMPHLET, ENTITLED 'SEPTEMBER 24: AN IMMORTAL DAY', WAS ISSUED BY THE ADEN TUC. IT "GLORIFIED" THE EVENTS OF SEPTEMBER 24 - THE DAY OF PROTEST AGAINST ADEN'S LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL DEBATE ON THE COLONY'S MEMBER PROPOSALS.
