    Background: LONDON, UK

A recent international food fair in London gave visitors an opportunity to sample a range of foods, and taste some surprises. The British, known for their love of beer, tested their palate on the Belgian product with interest. The United Kingdom stand also held some surprises. The English now produce French-style brie cheese, while the Scots make feta, a cheese usually found in Greece and the Middle East. It was only to be expected that the French stand would be a store delights. Their superb wines and foods were exhibited with the usual Gallic elegance. There were eye-catching samples of German confectionery and sweets as well as a wide range of cold meats. For the Italians, pasta took pride of place in their display. The Dutch showed their famous liquers and the Greeks exhibited wines and biscuits. The fair gave Londoners a chance to taste new foods and some old favourites.
