Ships and aircraft of the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand participated. Hawaii-based U.S. Marines conducted a limited scope, reduced-battalion sized, amphibious operation on Barking Sands Beach, Kauai, Hawaii. The Marine unit was the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment.
