    THE NEW NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL, BUILT AT A COST OF AROUND GBP400,000 WAS OPENED IN LAGOS YESTERDAY. THE CEREMONY WAS PERFORMED BY THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA, SIR ADETOKUNBO ADEMOLA.

    THE NEW SCHOOL REPLACES TEMPORARY QUARTERS FIRST ESTABLISHED IN 1963 IN IGBOSERE ROAD. IT IS SITUATED ON THE NORTH SHORE OF VICTORIA ISLAND, BUILT AROUND AN OPEN COURT WITH THE MAIN LECTURE THEATRE BLOCK TO THE NORTH AND THE L-SHAPED ADMINISTRATION BLOCK TO THE WEST AND SOUTH. ENROLMENT IS EXPECTED TO BE ABOUT 250.

    THE NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL, DESCRIBED AS THE FIRST IN COMMONWEALTH AFRICAN COUNTRIES, WAS FIRST OPENED AT 213A IGBOSERE ROAD IN 1963. JUST ON 1,100 HAVE PASSED OUT OF THIS SCHOOL WHICH IS NOW BEING CONVERTED INTO A STUDENTS HOSTEL.
