    ON FRIDAY, ABOUT 4,000 OF THE GENERAL'S BUDDHIST SUPPORTERS GATHERED IN THE GARRISON CITY -- THE SECOND LARGEST CITY AFTER SAIGON IN SOUTH VIETNAM -- FOR THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF ANTI-GOVERNMENT DEMONSTRATIONS. THEY CALLED FOR THE IMMEDIATE DISSOLUTION OF THE RULING JUNTA. HOWEVER,GENERAL THI, WHO ADDRESSED THE HUGE CROWD, URGED HIS SUPPORTERS TO THINK OF THE COUNTRY AND NOT OF HIM.

    THE NEXT DAY IN SAIGON, THE HEAD OF THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST SECULAR AFFAIRS INSTITUTE, THE REVEREND THICH TAM CHAU, ADDRESSED A CROWD OF SOME 12,000 BUDDHISTS, CALLING ON THEM TO GIVE THE RULING GENERALS A CHANCE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF THE NATIONS. THE ATTITUDE OF THE BUDDHISTS HAS BEEN A KEY FACTOR IN SOUTH VIETNAM'S TEN-DAY-OLD POLITICAL CRISIS.
