    Libyan Prime Minister Abdessalam Jalloud discussed bilateral relations and world affairs with Zaire's President Mobutu Sese Seko in Kinshasha on Saturday (15 March).

    Mr. Jalloud said he hoped developing countries would set up a joint strategy in their relations with industrial nations.

    "This strategy should lead us to a new and more just international monetary system which would allow developing countries to develop their economies," he added.

    The two leaders also discussed the visit of Libyan Head of State Maummar Gaddafi to Zaire. But the date is yet to be fixed.

    SYNOPSIS: The Prime Minister of Libya Abdessalam Jalloud paid an officials visit to Kinshasha, the capital of Zaire, last week. Zaire's State Commissioner for Political Affaire Nguza Karl I Bond and several senior government officials were at the airport to meet him. Mr. Jalloud was given a warm welcome ... which included a guard of honour.

    Before leaving the airport Mr. Jalloud said his visit would strengthen the relations between his country and Zaire. He said Libya was conscious -- as an oil-producing country -- it should help developing countries is Africa. Libya is reported to have recently increased its contribution to an Arab League fund by twenty million dollars to fifty million dollars to help African countries hit by increased oil prices.

    Later, Mr. Jalloud was driven to President Mobutu's residence at Mont Ngaliema for talks. They discussed bilateral relations and world monetary problems. Mr. Jalloud emphasised the need for developing countries to set up a joint strategy in their relations with industrial nations. He explained that this strategy should lead to a more just international monetary system and improve the economics of poorer countries. They also discussed a proposed visit by Libya's Head of State -- Muammar Gaddafi -- to Zaire. But a date has yet to be fixed.
