Background: INTRODUCTION: In Peking, China a mausoleum honouring the late Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, is nearing completion. The 30 metre (yard) high building stands in the city's Tien an Mien square, surrounded at present by bamboo scaffolding.
SYNOPSIS: The task of building the mausoleum has been a labour of love for the workers. It's gone up in the relatively short time of four months.
Members of the planning and design group pledged to do their part as quickly as possible and many of them lived on the site, working day and night. After a month they have made more than three hundred blueprints for the main structure.
Unfortunately for the workers an unusually cold and windy winter hit Peking during the construction. Because of the wind, some cranes had to be specially re-inforced to withstand the gusts.
The new building stands in the area where the nation's illustrious dead are honoured.
