    Soon after their arrival back in New Delhi from their visit to Nepal, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and laid wreaths in memory of the 1,020 officers and men of Commonwealth nations who died in that theatre of world war two operations.

    Accompanied by Indian Defence Minister Krishna Menon, the Royal visitors then made an extensive tour of the beautifully kept gardens of remembrance.

    The following day, they left Delhi by air for Teheran, Persia, at the end of a four-week tour of India, Pakistan, and Nepal.
