Background: Thousands of mourners turned out in Beirut, Lebanon, on Wednesday (August 9) for the funeral of palestine commando leader Fuad Asaad Shemali, who died recently of cancer.
Shemali, aged 36, belonged to the E1 Fatah movement, and established several information centres for the organisation throughout Europe. He also represented E1 Fatah at several international conferences.
Among the mourners were several members of the Black September commando movement. Shemali, a law graduate of Beirut's Jesuit University, was buried in Martyrs' Cemetery, Beirut.
