    EIGHT PAINTINGS VALUED AT BETWEEN GBP1.5 MILLIONS AND GBP2.5 MILLIONS STERLING, WHICH WERE STOLEN FROM THE DULWICH COLLEGE PICTURE GALLERY, LONDON, AT THE END OF LAST YEAR HAVE BEEN RESTORED. THEN WERE SHOWN PRIVATELY TO THE PRESS TODAY (3 MARCH) AND WILL GO ON SHOW TO THE PUBLIC TOMORROW.

    THREE OF THE PAINTINGS WERE BY REMBRANDT, THREE BY RUBENS, ONE BY ELSHEIMER AND ONE BY DOU. NONE OF THEM SUFFERED ANY DAMAGE WHILE IN THE HANDS OF THE THIEVES, AND THEY WERE RECOVERED IN A MATTER OF DAYS.

    THE GALLERY HOUSES ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE PRIVATE COLLECTIONS IN THE WORLD. THE TOTAL VALUE OF ITS 250 PAINTINGS IS IN THE REGION OF GBP10 MILLIONS STERLING.
