  • Description

A month-long exhibition of locally-produced goods from the Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) opened at the Kingsway stores in Accra on Monday (June 3rd).

The theme of the exhibition is 'GIHOC' and Self Reliance and it demonstrates efforts to move away from reliance on imported raw materials. The Paints Division displayed products incorporating locally produced alcohol and clays and the Steelworks Division showed goods made from local scrap and shells instead of imported calcium carbonate.

In his opening speech, Mr. Kwame Karikeri of the government's Special Action Unit thanked the Kingsway Stores for devoting 9,000 square feet to the exhibition and said that GIHOC products were now fully competitive. He added that the Corporation should now expand into the food sector.
