"You could say that it doesn't look like much. Well, at least not yet. Claude Leed has been working on this invention for the past twenty years. This isn't an ordinary car. Inventor Leed explained he might have an answer for our ecology problem. This car, believe it or not, runs on air. It gives out no polluting emission and it needs no gas to run. Leed came up with this idea in a New York patty in 1948 when he saw someone blowing up a party balloon and letting it go.
"His system works on the same principle. The cost of the source power? Any filled air tanks will do. The larger the tank the further the distance you can travel. On two seventy-five-hundred-pound air tanks the distance is about six hundred miles. The air pressure activates a pneumatic-drive power system which turns the wheels and you're off at a speed of thirty miles per hour."

Background: A car which operates on air instead of petrol and has no polluting emission has been invented in the United States.
A California, Claude Leed, the man behind the invention, said his car might solve ecological problems, as well as help the energy crisis.
Mr. Leed conceived the idea more than 20 years ago when he attended a party in New York City ... he saw someone blowing up a balloon and letting it go.
His system works on the same principle. All that's needed are filled air tanks. He said two 7,500-pound air tanks would cover a journey of ???00 miles (965 kms).
