    AMONG THEM WERE POLITICIANS, LEADERS OF ORGANISATIONS AND DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS, WHO ANSWERED THE PRESIDENT'S CALL FOR AN "OPEN ARMS POLICY" IN HIS COUNTRY.

    DURING THEIR TEMPORARY DETECTION, THEY WERE TAUGHT THE SOCIAL SIDE OF LIFE AND THE WORK OF THE GOVERNMENT IN ITS STRUGGLE AGAINST COMMUNISM.

    BEFORE THEIR RELEASE, MAJOR NGUYEN DUC XICH AND AN AMERICAN MILITARY ADVISER TOLD THEM AT A SIMPLE CEREMONY HOW WISE THEY HAD BEEN IN SURRENDERING THEMSELVES.

    LATER, A LEADER OF THE GROUP READ OUT A MESSAGE IN WHICH THEY PLEDGED LOYALTY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM.THE MESSAGE WAS THEN HANDED OVER TO MAJOR NGUYEN.
