THIS DEBRIS COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MISSING AIRCRAFT, "A DEFENSE DEPARTMENT STATEMENT SAID, "NO SURVIVORS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. "LOCATION OF THE DEBRIS WAS PINPOINTED AT 41 DEGREES 14 MINUTES NORTH AND 131 DEGREES 50 MINUTES EAST. THAT POSITION WAS REPORTED BY P-3 SEARCH PLANE. THIS IS U.S. AIRFORCE ITATZUKE AIR BASE, NEAR FUKUOKA CITY, EXTREME NORTH OF KYUSHU ISLAND, 1,000 KILOMETRES WEST OF TOKYO WHERE U.S. AIRFORCE RETAINS THE SAME TYPE OF EC-121 PROPELLER DRIVEN FOUR ENGINE PLANE. ALERT WAS GIVEN IN THIS AIRBASE AND ALL U.S. AIR CREWS WERE ORDERED TO STAND BY FROM TUESDAY NIGHT. U.S. RECOGNISANCE PLANES HOP OFF ONE BY ONE FOR SEARCH THE MISSING PLANE AND A RESCUE PURPOSE PLANE HOPS OFF TOO. ON THE OTHER HAND, ANOTHER U.S. BIG NAVAL AIR BASE AT ATSUGI, 40 KILOMETRES WEST OF TOKYO WHERE THEY THE MISSED PLANE HOPPED OFF FROM THIS BASE. THE MISSED EC-121 WAS REPORTED TO HAVE EQUIPPED WITH MORE THAN 15 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT TO DETECT THE GROUND COMMUNICATION SITUATION FROM THE AIR. THE NORTH KOREANS SAID THEY DOWNED THE PLANE WITH A SINGLE SHOT, CARRYING A CREW OF 31 MEN. WHEN IT PENETRATED DEEP INTO THEIR AIR SPACE ACCORDING TO U.S. AIR FORCE ON OKINAWA REACTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE RECONNAISSANCE PLANE INCIDENT. 313TH AIR DIVISION HQ ISSUED ALERT ORDERS TO THE 18TH TACTICAL FIGHTER SQUADRON ( f-105'S AND RF 4'C'S ) AND OTHERS AT 3.p.m. WEDNESDAY. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE PUEBLO INCIDENT THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION HAS BEEN DECLARED, AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS UNUSUALLY TENSE AT OKINAWA AIR BASE.
