    Tennis ... and in Tokyo on Sunday (23 April) reigning Wimbledon champion, Bjorn Borg of Sweden earned himself another 100,000 dollars, when he beat his old rival Jimmy Connors of the United States to win the 200,000 dollar four-man Suntory Cup tournament. In the play-off for third and fourth places 1977 Unites States Professional champion, Manuel Orantes of Spain, beat the U.S. Open Champion, Guillermo Vilas of Argentina 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.

    SYNOPSIS: The tournament was played at the Olympic Swimming Pool ... and in the first set, it was Borg, nearest the camera, serving to the left hand court ...Both players hit their returns hard and wide ... Connors had won five tournaments already this year, but this time Borg dictated ... The Swede had raced into an early lead, and the most delicate of drop shots made it 5-1.
