  • Description

The Ivory Coast and Taiwan on Tuesday (29 October) signed new agreements under which the Taiwan Government will provide further agricultural assistance for the Waste African state.

The agreement, signed in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast capital, extend the scope of an agricultural co-operation accord signed in 1962 and a later pact providing Taiwanese aid for an experimental seed farm in the Ivory Coast.

At the signing ceremony, the Taiwanese Ambassador, Mr. Tcheng-Kao Bernard Joei, explained that the new agreements would re-adjust Taiwanese aid in view of the great developments in Ivory Coast agriculture since the original accords were signed.

In the absence of Ivory Coast President Fleix Houphouat-Boigny, the agreement was signed for the Ivory Coast by Foreign Minister, Mr. Arsene Assouan Usher, and Agriculture Minister, Mr. Adboulaye Sawadogo.

The Taiwanese Ambassador greeted the signing of the agreement as the start of a new ear of technical co-operation between his country and Ivory Coast.
