Rockwell, a Brown University dropout, led the American Nazi party for 9 years. He was hit twice just after emerging from a laundromat. Witnesses saw suspected killer on rooftop and give chase. Robert Hancock, a witness said:-
'... and then he was shot through the window, once in the cheat, and once, it locked like, through the head, I'm not sure, and then he fell outside the car on to the side ....... we heard the footsteps almost immediately when he ran across the top of the roof. He was running down towards the other end of the shopping centre.

Commentator describes how police arrested John Patler, 29, a former marine and ex 4th ranking Nazi officer. He was taken inside the Arlington courthouse where his rights were explained to him. Hours later, he was formally charged and taken to Arlington County Jail. Bail was set at 50,000 dollars pending a court appearance on Monday. Nani lieutenant Katt Kale indicated Rockwell's work would continue. kale said:-
"He had expressed his views and feelings to many of his followers on many different occasions that in the event that anything should over happen to him, that whatever happened, he wanted his work to go on.

Commentator finished by saying that Patler did not want release on bail for fear the Nazis would get him. The police maintained a strict security over him.
