A dispute has erupted among black leaders in the United States over Black-Jewish relations. Black American Civil Rights leader Bayard Rustin, who has compared the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) with the Ku Klux Klan, arrived in Israeli on Sunday (14 October), less than three weeks after other black activists led by the Reverend Jesse Jackson visited the Middle East and met with P.L.O. chief Yasser Arafat. There has been criticism by some black American leaders of the meeting with the P.L.O. But in Washington, former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young said he disagreed with the criticism.
SYNOPSIS: The latest delegation to visit the area met with Arab trade union leaders from East Jerusalem and the West Bank on Tuesday (16 October). They made it clear they were not connected with Mr Jackson's group.
