Prince Albert of Liege, heir to the Belgian throne, arrived with Princess Paola - his bride of three months - at London Airport October 8. They had come from Belgium, and were met at the Airport by the Belgian Ambassador. Airport officials did not know they were due to arrive, and had been told to expect a senior government official.
Princess Paola is reported to have visited a gynaecologist in London, and a Court official in Brussels afterwards confirmed this, but said her visit was just for a check, and there was no cause for concern. While King Baudouin remains unmarried, her child will be the first in line of succession to the throne after Prince Albert, King Baudouin's brother.
Afterwards, the Royal couple made a brief shopping expedition, and left again for Brussels later on October 9. The Brussels flight was briefly delayed at London Airport as Princess Paola was not feeling well. She and her husband have recently been on holiday in the Balearic Islands.
