Background: It was a twelve-hour round of activities for the Queen Mother today--the second of her informal three-day visit to Canada.On the schedule were lunch at the Ontario Legislative Buildings and a visit to Sunnybrook, the largest veterans' hospital in Canada.At Sunnybrook she was greeted by officials of the Canadian Red Cross of which she is a patron.She talked with many of the workers who lined the walk leading to the Red Cross lodge on the hospital grounds.Inside she viewed some of the handicrafts produced by Sunnybrook veterans under the therapy program conducted at the hospital.The Queen Mother signed the register, accepted stuffed toys for her grandchildren and then presented the lodge with a personally autographed portrait.

Lining the driveway as the Queen Mother toured the grounds were veterans of the two world wars, Korea and the South African War.They cheered and waved as she passed.

Then it was off to the other engagements before attending the banquet for the Toronto Scottish Regiment.

Wearing the regal gown, blue sash of the Royal Order of the Garter and diamond tiara the Queen Mother drew cheers from the waiting crowd as she arrived at the Royal York Hotel tonight.In the hotel's Canadian Room more than twelve hundred members of the Toronto Scottish Regiment, the Empire Club of Canada and the Royal Canadian Military Institute greeted her.She spoke briefly - and recalled her first visit to Canada.
