    Israel's new ambassador to Chad, Mr Navon, presented his credentials to President Francois Tombalbaye at the presidential palace in Fort Lamy on Thursday (5 August).

    At the ceremony, Mr Navon said that Israel sought peace with all nations. Accepting the new ambassador's credentials, President Tombalbaye said he hoped their two countries would consolidate their cooperation and friendly relations, and work for peace.

    SYNOPSIS: At the presidential palace in to Lamy on Thursday, Israel's new ambassador to Chad, Mr. Navon, paid an official visit to President Francois Tombalbaye, in order to present his credentials.

    Mr. Navon said that his country extends the hand of peace and friendship to all nations, and that he is pleased to sea the strengthening of relations with Chad.

    In accepting Mr. Navon's credentials, President Tombalbaye said that he hoped their two countries would consolidate their cooperation and friendly relations, work towards world peace. He called on the peoples of the world for cooperation and understanding in pursuits other than war and destruction. The President said that although the means of his people were small, he was confident that they would do all in their power to maintain peace in Chad and other lands.

    Following the ceremony, ??? and President Tombalbaye engaged in informal conversation. Chad's head of state pledged his understanding and cooperation, during Mr. Navon's stay in Chad.
