Iraq,s Vice President, Mr. Saddam Hussein arrived in the Indian capital, New Delhi on Monday (25 march) on a four-day state visit.
Mr. Hussein -- accompanied by a top-level delegation of Iraqi government minister and officials -- was greeted on his arrival by the Indian Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, and the Major of Delhi, Mr. Hkidar Nath Sahni.
The following day, Mr. Hussein began talks with Mrs. Gandhi at the Indian Prime Minster's Parliament House offices. The meeting was also attended by India's Foreign Minister, Mr. Swaran Singh, and Planning Minister, Mr. D. P. Dhar.
The talks centred on bilateral relations between the two countries and were expected to result in a new co-operation agreement.
The Iraqi Vice President late called on India's President Mr. V. V. Giri.
